PhD Training for 3rd and 4th Year Students 2026
The 2026 3rd and 4th year PhD training took place on Wednesday 8 April at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The training focused on supporting PhD researchers in the final stages of their doctoral journey and preparing them for the next steps in their careers. Through a series of panel discussions, participants explored a range of career paths after completing a PhD in human rights, gained practical insights into research funding and grant opportunities, and discussed the realities of academic publishing, including the peer review process and the transition from dissertation to book. Drawing on the experiences of academics, practitioners, fund recipients, and editors, the programme provided practical advice and inspiration for navigating the post-PhD landscape. In addition to the academic sessions, the training offered participants the opportunity to connect with fellow PhD researchers, exchange experiences, and strengthen their professional network in a supportive academic environment.
