Profile
Dr Carl Lewis is a researcher in International Law at the T.M.C. Asser Institute. He obtained his PhD in Law from Tilburg University with his thesis ‘Public International Law and the Pursuit of Universality’, and holds an LLM in Public International Law from Leiden University. His research focuses on public international law in general, with a particular focus on critical approaches to international human rights and international dispute settlement. At present, Carl's research zooms in on the international legal issues raised by contemporary developments in Neurotechnology, particularly in the consumer market. Carl also has extensive teaching experience, having taught bachelor and master level courses in Public International Law at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), Tilburg University and Utrecht University, as well as having supervised LLM theses in the subject area. He has also been editor of the Netherlands Yearbook of International Law and regular host of the JurisDictions: International law podcast.
